The British have had a long running love affair with Lanzarote ever since package holidays were first sold to this destination back in the early 1970´s. Tourists started coming here back in the 1970´s when there weren’t even any roads and only one hotel. Obviously things have moved on a little since then and today this is a bustling destination.
Puerto del Carmen is the resort to head for if you want a lively holiday as the nightlife here is excellent and much better than elsewhere on the island. And there are also plenty of good value accommodation options here in the form of holiday apartment complexes. Where room rates start from about €180 per week.
Costa Teguise is the smallest of the main resorts and is located about a ten minute drive from the capital of Arrecife. It´s an ideal choice for families as it is quieter than both Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca.
